Patrizia Garzena

patrizia--at--soapnaturally.org

Patrizia was born and lives in Italy. Since leaving school in 1992, she has been a specialised reporter for administrative and political matters with the newspaper Il Biellese.

In 2001, she instigated and developed a new popular column focussing on creative hobbies, sustainable consumables and leisureware. For some time now, she has also been Managing Editor of Signum, the magazine published by Ecomuseo (Folk Heritage Museum) in Biella.

Her articles about natural handmade soap have appeared in numerous publications, including Creare con Casa Viva (monthly magazine published by Mondadori), Casa Profumo Kit (Fabbri Editori) and Enciclopedia della casa profumata (Fabbri Editori). She is also a contributor of the Internet portals Bricomedia, a popular DIY Website in Italy, and Life Gate, an important Italian-based project to promote and support zero footprint and environmentally sustainable activities.

Patrizia also runs free soapmaking courses for a local cultural association, which are attended by classes of 25 pupils at a time.

Her Website, Il Mio Sapone, is the first and only soapmaking resource site in Italian, and is regularly being reviewed in the main Italian media.

Marina Tadiello

marina--at--soapnaturally.org

Marina was born in Italy and has lived in Australia for the last eight years.

Before moving to Australia, she worked for 20 years in a diverse background, predominantly in the film promotion and nature conservation areas. Since 1996, she has translated over 20 technical and educational books from English into Italian.

However, Marina's main activity in the last six years has been natural soapmaking and its promotion. In parallel with the development of her own natural soap business, AquaSapone, she has been one of the pioneers and crusaders of the recent world wide growth of the interest in homemade soap. Her highly respected Soap Naturally mailing list attracts over 2,500 unique visitors a day and has achieved a widely recognised international standing, with a growing audience of thousands of active soapmakers. Regarded as an expert in the natural soap field, her instructions for various soap making methods are commonly quoted on a large number of Websites and Internet mailing lists.

With Anne Morgan, long time soapmaker and essential oil expert, she is adding the final touches to a new book, Making Scents: The Code of Natural Perfumes, which addresses the needs of those who wish to learn how to use natural plant essential oils to scent and improve the healing power of handmade skin care products.

Patrizia Garzena and Marina Tadiello have co-authored, in Italian, three more books on soapmaking, natural skin care and sustainable home care.

Patrizia and Marina's Italian books are described here.
